Provenance: Shot for a London menswear store, this scene captures contemporary life in Rome. Set in a sulphur bath, with colouring reminiscent of Alma Tadema, but with a very different theme, it has three men diving into apparent infinity. Below are two naked girls in the splash pool, apparently trapped. A metaphor for the war of sexes amongst working-class Roman teenagers in the 1970's.
